Leo XIV Appoints African Bishop - Linked to UN “Sexual and Reproductive Health” Agenda

Leo XIV appointed on October 22 Rev Jean-Pierre Tanoh Tiémélé, 56, as Bishop of Abengourou, Ivory Coast.

The skinny priest was ordained in January 2011 and has served as the National Executive Secretary of Caritas Ivory Coast from 2015 to fin 2024.

The website of Caritas Côte d’Ivoire lists the fight against HIV/AIDS among the three main areas of intervention.

Partnership with UN agencies

Caritas Ivory Coast has worked with many controversial branches of the United Nations, including UNAIDS, UNHCR, UNICEF, and PEPFAR (U.S.-government HIV program). UN frameworks often promote "comprehensive sexuality education" (CSE) which includes contraception, condom use, and gender ideology.

In July 2024, the local news agency Aip.ci reported that the Caritas under Rev. Tiémélé was running a community-mobilization project around nearby colleges. Financed by the French Development Agency, this program included “family planning and sexual and reproductive health”. These are code words for all kinds of immorality like abortion, birth control, condoms, homosexual ideology and alike.

In the US, it was dubious bishops who prioritized AIDS relief (instead of, for example, maternal care).
