Under Catholic canon law, baptism is received only once, and the record is used to establish a person's status for later sacraments, including marriage. The bishops add that requiring deletion could interfere with the Church's autonomy and institutional freedom of religion. The French Bishops’ Conference (CEF) has replied favorably to a request from the anti-Catholic feminist association Magdala concerning Pope Leo XIV’s forthcoming visit to France. According to LeParisien.fr (September 2), the CEF confirmed to the association that women and girls will serve at the altar alongside men and boys during the papal Eucharists.
