French President Emmanuel Macron took a livestreamed tour of the renovated Notre Dame cathedral in Paris on Friday. "It's overwhelming," Macron said.
The cathedral will reopen on December 7, five years after it was partially destroyed by fire.
Many parts were rebuilt exactly as they were. For example, the architects made sure that the former medieval asymmetries in the central vault, caused by the lack of precision tools, were reconstructed exactly as they were before.
The walls and windows were cleaned of centuries of grime, and a new adjustable lighting system was installed.
The restored Saint Marcel Chapel is beautifully renovated.
The drop of bitterness is the hemispherical Eucharistic table, which looks like half an egg (similar to Berlin) or like something bought from the cheap furniture industry.

Looks like they got the "noble simplicity" memo. In other words, tacky and unattractive "modern art".

The new tabernacle
Yet one more insult to the Lord -- with such a lack of Faith, one wonders if Our Lord is even present there.
