Profile
Born poor. Studied in Paris, France, and ordained in 1700. While a seminarian he delighted in researching the writings of Church Fathers, Doctors and Saints as they related to the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom he was singularly devoted.
Under Mary‘s inspiration, he founded the Daughters of Divine Wisdom, a religious institute of women devoted to the care of the desititute, and a brother organization, the Brothers of Saint Gabriel. During this work, he began his apostolate of preaching the Rosary and authentic Marian devotion. He preached so forcefully and effectively against the errors of Jansenism that he was expelled from several dioceses in France. In Rome Pope Clement XI conferred on him the title and authority of Missionary Apostolic, which enabled him to continue his apostolate after returning to France. "Ich bin der Weinstock, ihr seid die Reben." (Joh 15,5) Schauen wir kurz auf den vergangenen Sonntag zurück. Da hörten wir von Jesus: „Ich bin der gute Hirte!“ Jesus, der Gute Hirte ruft jeden persönlich beim Namen. Jeder ist für ihn wichtig, einzigartig und geliebt. Dann führt er uns hinaus aus unserem Stall, dem Alltagstrott, auf fruchtbare Weide. Er ruft uns heraus. Auf griechisch heißt es: Ek – kaleo. Davon kommt das Wort: ecclesia = Kirche = die Herausgerufenen. Und wozu ruft Jesus uns aus dem alten Leben heraus? Er ruft uns zur innigen Lebensgemeinschaft mit Ihm und untereinander. und das ist der tiefe Sinn von Kirche. Auffallend ist, dass im heutigen Evangelium das Wort „Bleiben“ gleich 9 Mal vorkommt: So wichtig ist es, in der Lebens- ja Liebesgemeinschaft mit Christus zu bleiben. Cuando llegó a Jerusalén, trató de unirse a los discípulos, pero todos le tenían desconfianza porque no creían que también él fuera un verdadero discípulo.
Entonces Bernabé, haciéndose cargo de él, lo llevó hasta donde se encontraban los Apóstoles, y les contó en qué forma Saulo había visto al Señor en el camino, cómo le había hablado, y con cuánta valentía había predicado en Damasco en el nombre de Jesús.
Desde ese momento, empezó a convivir con los discípulos en Jerusalén y predicaba decididamente en el nombre del Señor.
Hablaba también con los judíos de lengua griega y discutía con ellos, pero estos tramaban su muerte.

Jesus said to his disciples: "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower.
He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.
You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you.
Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned. Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.
(Now) this is how we shall know that we belong to the truth and reassure our hearts before him
in whatever our hearts condemn, for God is greater than our hearts and knows everything.
Beloved, if (our) hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence in God
and receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. And his commandment is this: we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as he commanded us. Those who keep his commandments remain in him, and he in them, and the way we know that he remains in us is from the Spirit that he gave us.
