English Martyrs gave their live so the Catholicism could be preserved - Homily by Fr Ray Staunton. Walsingham Catholic TV Feast of the English Martyrs - 4th May 2016 On November 22, 1987, Pope John Paul II beatified Blessed George Haydock and 84 other men who died for their faith in England during the Reformation. The rite of beatification at St. Peter’s in Rome was a notable British celebration. A large delegation from England and Wales was on hand: 32 bishops, 300 priests, and a crowd of layfolk, including blood descendants of 12 of the new “blesseds”. The beatification crowned a study of the deaths of the 85 candidates that had lasted for 12 years, and had produced seven volumes of information, totaling 2667 pages, about their lives and deaths. The time of these martyrdoms extended from 1584, when Bl. William Carter, a printer, was hanged, until 1679, when the last of the 85 died on the scaffold – Blessed Charles Meehan, an Irish Franciscan priest. Most of the group were diocesan …More

FamigliaCristiana Martire Nascita: Sconosciuto Morte: 4 maggio 304, Lorch Ricorrenza: 4 maggio Tipologia: Commemorazione Protettore di:pompieri Vi sono solide prove del martirio di Floriano, avvenuto a Lorch (Lauriacum) durante la persecuzione di Diocleziano, l'ultima e più violenta dell'impero romano. Era ufficiale nell'esercito e nell'amministrazione civile del Norico (Austria), e si autoconsegnò ai soldati del governatore Aquilino. I suoi Atti raccontano che fu fustigato, scuoiato e gettato nel fiume Enns con una pietra legata al collo. Una pia donna ritrovò il corpo e lo seppellì; in seguito fu poi trasferito nell'abbazia agostiniana che si trovava nei pressi di Linz e che ne prese il nome. Alcune delle sue reliquie furono poi traslate a Roma, dove il papa Lucio III le diede a Casimiro re di Polonia e al vescovo di Cracovia. Procedentes de una familia noble lituana, no se conocen con certeza ni el lugar ni la fecha de nacimiento, pero puede ubicarse entre 1420 y 1425 . En la biografía latina de 1544 , John de Trzciany afirma que los padres de Michal poseían una aldea cerca de Vilnius , llamada Giedrojce, donde probablemente nació. A pesar de esto, W. Nacido cerca de Vilnius, Lituania, Miguel sufrió de discapacidades físicas y permanentes desde el nacimiento. Era un enano que tenía el uso de un solo pie. Debido a su delicada condición física, su educación formal fue interrumpida con frecuencia. Pero con el tiempo, Miguel demostró habilidades especiales en metalurgia. Trabajando con bronce y plata, creó vasijas sagradas, incluyendo cálices. Viajó a Cracovia, Polonia, donde se unió a los agustinos. The brothers in Lystra and Iconium spoke highly of him, and Paul wanted him to come along with him. On account of the Jews of that region, Paul had him circumcised, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. As they traveled from city to city, they handed on to the people for observance the decisions reached by the apostles and presbyters in Jerusalem. Day after day the churches grew stronger in faith and increased in number. They traveled through the Phrygian and Galatian territory because they had been prevented by the holy Spirit from preaching the message in the province of Asia.
