Sadly, there is a costly lesson here. Adopt a toxic policy and the school board soon becomes corrupt. And hard earned tax dollars are burned and thrown away in the name of reconciliation and Mother Nature.
"The Stranger" is a song by Gord Downie that makes up his multimedia work titled, The Secret Path which tells the very sad story of Indigenous 12-year-old boy Chanie Wenjak. The work is supported by a novel and a film. The story is that Chanie run away from a Canadian residential school. It was to get away from the disrespect and physical abuse. So, he decided to walk home, a 600 kilometre journey from where the school was located in Kenora, Ontario. The boy never made it because he died of hunger and the cold weather. His body was found near a railroad track on October 7, 1966. The song aims to point out the suffering, loneliness and fear experienced by the children who attended residential schools. It's all become part of the long truth and reconciliation project that Canada's Liberal government adopted in 2015. In May 2020, there was also the claim that 215 graves were found near the Kamloops Indian Residential School. Note: no actual graves have been found. The only problem with …

An article in Juno News titled, "Teachers in Simcoe trained to keep gender & sexuality clubs secret from parents" has disturbing information for parents. It reports that the Simcoe County District School Board has in-serviced teachers on how to start student Gender and Sexuality Alliance Clubs (GSA). This is bad enough, but it gets much worse. Teachers are told that parents need not be informed about the training nor the resources used. Morality aside, is this even legal? For the school year 2024-2025, teachers were instructed to keep the so called "professional development" about GSAs private. The new rule being: “What is said in the meeting stays in the meeting.” It was all done with the goal of creating "safe spaces" for students. However, who are the so called "trusted staff advisors" allowed to start these clubs? Who decides what the club does? And why were parents kept in the dark? In addition, there is a very serious flaw in Ontario's latest version of the sex-curriculum. We …

The reflections and quotations come from the book titled, Advent and Christmas with the Church Fathers by Marco Pappalardo. Happy New Year to all our readers. Introduction 'The road is long, / we follow a star. / Slow steps and intrepid hearts / gazing with surety upon the Invisible. / We move toward the Event for its contemplation. / Three men, a star, a child, / and overwhelming joy. / Prostrate, we adore.' This poem was written during a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, specifically during worship near the star marking the birthplace of Christ in Bethlehem. Today, Christ reveals himself to us in our hearts and showers us with gifts. What can we give to him? St. Leo the Great, Sermon 32, 1 Therefore, dearest brothers, we recognize the firstfruits of our vocation and our faith in the adoration of the Wise Men. With our souls overflowing with joy, let us celebrate the beginning of our blessed hope. Now, …
Advent and Christmas with the Church Fathers baptismal promises. Happy New Year to all our readers. Introduction We celebrate the Baptism of the Lord on the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Epiphany. In his angelus message on January 11, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI said the following: This was the first act of his public life, recounted in all four Gospels. Having reached the age of about thirty, Jesus left Nazareth, went to the River Jordan and, in the midst of a great crowd of people, had himself baptized by John. Mark the Evangelist writes: ‘And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove; and a voice came down from heaven, 'You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased' (Mk 1:10-11). These words ‘You are my beloved Son’ reveal what eternal life is: it is the filial relationship with God, just as Jesus lived it and as he revealed and gave it to us. St. Gregory of Nazianzus, As John is baptizing others, Jesus …

Longfu Temple in Hezhou, legally rebuilt in 2024, was destroyed despite local villagers’ protests and resistance. by Liang Changpu The police demolish Longfu Temple. Screenshot. On December 23, in Xinglongzhai Village, Zhongshan County, Hezhou City, Guangxi, the Chinese Communist Party once again demonstrated its unique interpretation of “religious management”: if it exists, demolish it; if villagers resist, gas them; if anyone films it, arrest them. This time, the target was Longfu Temple, a modest folk‑religion shrine rebuilt by villagers with their own savings after decades of neglect. The temple had stood in the area for generations, long enough that locals cannot even remember when it first appeared. But in today’s China, longevity may be a liability. As villagers reported, the local government dispatched more than 100 personnel, including police, firefighters, and medical staff, to carry out a “forced demolition operation.” One might think such a large team was preparing to …
Not a church - but read to learn about China: On December 23, 2025, police in Xinglongzhai Village, Hezhou, Guangxi forcibly demolished Longfu Temple, a folk-religion shrine rebuilt by villagers in 2024–2025 with private donations. Despite no prior objections during reconstruction, authorities suddenly labeled the temple an illegal structure and deployed over 100 personnel to carry out the demolition. Villagers protested, forming human barricades; clashes followed, resulting in arrests and injuries. Police ultimately fired irritant gas into the temple to force out women sheltering inside before razing the building. The incident reflects a broader campaign by the Chinese Communist Party to suppress religious and community spaces viewed as ideologically uncontrollable, highlighting growing tensions between state power, local communities, and cultural memory.

Liberal governemnt PM Mark Carney announced just days ago that Canada would given another 2.5 billion to Ukraine. Since the war started Canada has handed the Ukrainian governemnt 22 billion dollars. Let alone questioning the war itself, why is Canada giving away money it doesn't have. It's tax dollars the government will need borrow at high interest rates and Canadians forced to pay for the cost, not just of the loan, but also the accumulated interest over the coming years. It amounts to governemnt theft from the tax payer. It's also the sin of usury. For readers who are interested, we did a post about debt slavery before Christmas. Don't expect the system to warn consumers of the dangers of debt and the harm of institutionalized gambling. In his general audience talk on Psalm 15, on February 4, 2004, Pope John Paul II states about making a good confession we must ask ourselves did we "follow the path of moral integrity, (to) do what is right and, lastly, (to) speak with perfect …
Jan 1 "Praising God at the End of the Year" We post the reflection of the day from the Magnificat. It's titled, "Praising God at the End of the Year" and written by Pope Benedict XVI. He was pope from 2005 to 2013. He died in 2022. We praise God at the end of the year and the beginning of the New Year. Best wishes and blessings to our readers. We begin the New Year, January 1, 2026, celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. We do so with the Church Fathers. The reflections and quotations come from the book titled, Advent and Christmas with the Church Fathers by Marco Pappalardo. Happy New Year to all our readers. Introduction "We might ask: why exactly did God choose from among all women Mary of Nazareth? The answer is hidden in the unfathomable mystery of the divine will. There is one reason, however, which is highlighted in the Gospel: her humility. Dante Alighieri clearly emphasizes this in the last Hymn of Paradise: ‘Virgin Mother, daughter of your Son, / lowly and exalted more than any creature, / the fixed goal of eternal counsel’ (Paradise, XXXIII, 1-3).... Yes, God was attracted by the humility of Mary, who found favor in his eyes (cf. Lk 1:30). She thus became the Mother of God, the image and model of the Church, chosen among the peoples to receive the Lord’s blessing and communicate it to the entire …
September 2025 The Nazi book burnings in Germany and Austria in the 1930s targeted books that the German Student Union deemed subversive. In Ray Bradbury’s 1953 novel Fahrenheit 451, the firemen burn subversive books. In 2019, the school district, Conseil scolaire catholique (CSC) Providence, which operates as the French language school board for southwestern Ontario, burned classic books and used the ashes as fertilizer in the “spirit of reconciliation.” In 2025, I was physically banned from my old school, WJ Mouat Secondary, by the Abbotsford School District, because I went there to launch my book, The Scarlet Lesson. The operating principle in the instances above is that books are a danger. But burning books or banishing authors is like shooting the messenger: The message doesn’t perish. As the ancient Greek dramatist Sophocles is often purported to have said,“You can kill a man, but you can’t kill an idea”. My idea was that Christian teachers didn’t murder students in Indian …
If you want to get an idea of everything that is wrong with Canada today, what has sadly happened to Jim McMurtry is an example. He has been fired and cancelled for telling the truth. Thank God for courageous people like him.
